Default How to get rid of local songs in Google Play Music library?

So I have some audio books and sound clips on my phone which have nothing to do with Google Play. When I open the Google Play Music app, they all show up in my library and are included in things like "Shuffle Library." Is there any way do disable local songs from showing up in the library?

Welcome to Android Central! There actually isn't an option for that. You could consider adding a blank file titled ".nomedia" to any folder that contains music or ebook files. This will instruct the system's Media Scanner to ignore those folders when populating its databases for the photo gallery and the music apps. I'm not sure, though, if this will make other apps (like an audio book reader) be unable to find the files either.

You can use a file manager app like ES File Explorer to create the .nomedia file.
