    Default Android recovery mode/S3

    Can I recover contacts, photos, etc? from this mode. My phone does not power on otherwise

    Unfortunately the only way to recover the photos would be from the "normal" mode. What happens when you try to boot up your device?

    Have you tried wiping the cache partition when you're in recovery mode?

    yes, did that as well...also I tried to attach to my PC via USB to connect KIES but the PC did not recognize the phone
