Problems with the S4! Can some one help me?

[AC Question]

I have just got my new phone, i used my old cable to try and dock it to my laptop, but both the laptop and phone wont recognize each other. The phone will charge, but i can't get it to be detected, which brings me further into my problems I tried downloading the Kies driver from the samsung site but that didn't help either and it even said that both versions are not capataible with my device. Plus i bought a new cord and it does the same thing, though the phone will connect to normal pc towers but not my laptop.
Please if anyone knows how to fix or do something about these problems and could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome to Android Central! See if it will connect to some other computer. If it connects successfully there, then there's some issue with your computer's drivers.
