Sound problem

When ever I play back my recent video recordings, I don't seem to hear anything except from weird cracking noises. This also happens when I'm talking to someone on Skype (they can't hear me, but they can hear the loud noise) what can I do to stop the noises from happening? It recently started and I have had this HP slate for over a year
