alternative password forgot

[AC Question]

I am using the fingerprint recognition and alternative password.
Sometime the fingerprint isn't recognised and I can't get into the phone and I cannot remember the alternative password now!!
How can I get around this? Do I have to take out my sim and reset, would like to avoid this!!
