Default Need to Edit Existing Android App

I have very little experience with android apps and had a developer make a simple app for me (it is cost of credit calculator that i will give away for free to help people understand the cost of credit).

When I received the app, I realized that the labels next to two of the input fields in the app were missing. The developer is not responding and I just took a Java course, so I figure I should just make the edits. However, I don't know how to setup the compiler so I can edit and then compile the code as well as emulate an android device on my PC. I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks. Below are the folders I received (just listing from the the root directory):

    Folders:
    .settings
    assets
    bin
    gen
    libs
    res
    src

    Files:
    .classpath
    .project
    AndroidManifest
    ic_launcher-web
    lint
    proguard-project
    project.properties
