Is it possible to recover text messages from a galaxy y which is stuck in boot loop?
This is my friend's phone and she has text messages on it from a family member who has since died so she is desperate to get them back, even if she has to copy them down by hand.
Everything I have seen suggests a factory reboot to get out of the boot loop but I believe this will lose all her messages too.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
Any help would be really gratefully received.

    Welcome to AC
Have you tried wiping the cache partition? The steps are the same as getting into recovery mode for factory reset, but selecting that option instead of the reset. That won't delete any of her data, so it's worth a try

Thanks for your help. I have tried wiping the cash but the phone is still in boot loop.
Has anyone tried the android data recovery program?
I am very wary of experimenting too much in case I wipe the data.

If all else fails contact the carrier as they by regulation must keep data about your phone calls and text for 7 years. It may cost time and effort and the carrier may charge but it's is doable. Good Luck.
