Nexus S was in the water for couple of minutes.
Dried it up wrapped in a piece of cloth in rice.

When starting, shows Google logo and unlocked lock and then black screen, though soft buttons are glowing.

I can get into fastboot mode, and I tried to run recovery, but with no luck.

    Welcome to the Forums!

I think it will be worth reading this from an AC member:

Thanks for the link. It is more for immediate situation, but in my case it's been a month since the phone was in water, so I believe it is dry enough now. And of course I removed battery back then before drying it.

The question is, can it be fixed now. Screen obviously works, but the phone does not load actual Android OS (or does not show it), so I thought maybe somebody encountered this before.

The problem may be caused by the impurities left behind after the water has dried out, which can cause progressive damage until eventually the device fails. I don't know whether the alcohol treatment that Rukbat talks about in the link would be worth trying now, especially as you're halfway to getting the phone up and running and further treatment may lose you even that. On the other hand, halfway is no good.

I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest apart from that but someone else here may come to the rescue with a fix.

That phone is older than me. Forget about it. Buy a new one.
