Welcome to Android Central! Which device, and which gallery app? The stock Gallery app on most Android devices should show pictures based on what folders they're in. So you could create separate folders for "Family" and "Personal" (either in the Pictures folder or the DCIM/Camera/ folder) using a file manager app like ES File Explorer, then move the photos there.
