Why is Youtube constantly buffering?

youtube constantly buffering

Iv tried to uninstall the app and re download it but still constantly buffering...
I have the galaxy s5 active and have only had it a week.
My galaxy s3 would work great but the s5 active not so much when it comes to youtube.
Any ideas on what to do would help

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen on wi-fi or mobile data, or both? If only on wi-fi, then does it occur only on certain wi-fi networks? How does it do on the YouTube website on Chrome?

Buffering means that your internet connection is slower than the video is playing. (Translation of "buffering": "waiting for more data to come down the internet".) Changing the app doesn't change buffering. Changing the connection speed between you and the server you're downloading (or streaming - same thing) from does. You could have a 100mbps internet connection, but that's between you and your provider. If Youtube's server is being hit heavily, or the path from your provider to Youtube's server is slow, video streaming will buffer. (If you have a 3mbps internet connection, and 5 people in your house are trying to watch videos, you';ll also see buffering - the connection to your provider isn't fast enough for 5 video streams.)
