My GS4 was working decently, occasionally it would tell me the SIM card was removed and make me restart the phone, otherwise A OK. It turned off in my pocket, battery was above 50%, and now it won't turn on. I took the battery out and put it back in and that got it to start, but it shut off after less than 5 seconds. I tried plugging it into a charger, taking out the SIM and putting it back in, same with the battery. Still wont turn on.

Welcome to Android Central! Batteries can fail suddenly. The first thing to try is a new battery, or perhaps borrow one from a friend's S4.

I have the same problem and it goes into Airplane mode on its own as well . I charge it all night and even at a full battery it shuts off as soon as I unplug it from the charger and says 0% battery I am getting a replacement phone today
