    Try Settings, Apps, All, scroll to Phone, open, and select Clear Cache and Clear Data.

    It's so frustrating when the proximity sensor goes crazy and needs to be calibrated.

    When you put your hand up to the phone, it 'thinks' you have it to your ear and shuts off the display.

    Next time if you're 'in call' try sneaking up on the keypad from below.
    (the sensor is next to the forward facing camera)

    I just found out that if I touch the top of the screen then I can press a number. I will continue to test this but the blanking screen does not happen all that much...

    I just found that if I hold the phone high, as in overhead, the screen work as expected. No blanking when I want to press a number.
