Welcome to Android Central! To turn off Google+ Auto-Backup, open the Photos app, tap Menu, then Settings, then turn off Auto-Backup there.

To delete the Auto-Backup folder, you have to go to your Google+ Photos website on your computer, go to the Folder view, find the Auto-Backup folder, and delete it. Then on your phone, go to Settings>Apps>All, select Gallery, and Clear Cache/Data, then Force Stop. The next time you open Gallery, it will rebuild its database, this time without the Auto-Backup folder.
