How do I recover my password for my S5?

i am locked out of my s5

i cannot get my fingerprint reader to pop up. i have tried using my password but it does not seem to work either. can i do a factory reset without losing all my data? if so how? thank you.

If you do a Factory Reset you will lose all personal data not backed up. Go to your carrier or network provider for assistance.
