Why will my samsung galaxy not connect to Uverse Wi-Fi

I enter the SSID and the Key (as the password) and the tablet gets stuck at searching for IP address. I did a restart of the wireless box, reset the tablet, tried other SSID but still get the same problem.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you manually entering the SSID? You shouldn't have to do that. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi, turn wi-fi on, then look for the Uverse network to appear in the list. Tap it, then enter the correct password, and you should be logged in. What is the Key that you're referring to? Are you certain that's the default password for the network, or the password that you selected when setting up the router?
