Where are photos stored on tablets (galaxy tab3)

I have asked this question earlier and "keepitreal" suggested they were under DCIM/camera. Unfortunately, that directory appears empty unless my photos are somehow flagged as hide or something similar where the do not get displayed.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you looking for photos you took with the tablet's Camera app? If so, that's correct--they should be in the directory /storage/sdcard0/DCIM/Camera. If you used a 3rd party camera app, the default storage folder might be different. Also check both the internal storage and the external microSD card, since the photos might be there as well.
