The messaging icon has completely disappeared and it's almost as if it didn't exist. I can't find it in application manager. How can I restore this?

Welcome to Android Central! So you can't find the Messaging icon in the App Drawer (the grid that shows all of your apps)? Is it in a Disabled section of the App Manager?

Have you already tried rebooting? If that doesn't help, try booting into Recovery and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: Reset: Samsung Galaxy S 4 | T-Mobile Support
