How do I recover the password for my Galaxy S4?

I forgot the password to my Galaxy S4

I was fiddling with my new phone last night trying to figure out some things but somehow added a password while I was drinking. Now I don't remember what it was and I can't get in to change or remove it. I don't know if I set it up right. I couldn't get online with it. Actually there are a lot of things I couldn't figure out. That's why I want the boyfriend to change it to another phone while we still have the chance. But when I went to check a couple things, I was prompted to type in a password. I don't know what it is! Please, how do I get in? I need a couple phone numbers from the phone.

The only way to recover is to Factory Reset the device. Unfortunately, all your data will be erased. Google 'hard reset *your phone*'. Hopefully your carrier backs up your contacts somehow, or you have been entering your contacts into Gmail, so when you reenter your Gmail account info, they may come back from there as well.
