Nexus 5 - lost my phone on night out - is my data safe?

AC Question

Hi,

Frustratingly I lost my phone over the weekend, it was protected with a pin and has since been blacklisted by my network provider (SIM AND EMEI).

I know this means no one can use this phone again using a different SIM (in the UK anyway) but does blacklisting 'lock down' the phone, so that no data can be accessed? I don't like the thought that if someone has found it they can access my files by connecting via USB and downloading that way for example?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! If you had a screenlock set, then someone else wouldn't be able to access your data simply by connecting it to a computer via USB. If you do that and the phone is still locked, nothing shows up on the computer.

You could go to google.com/android/devicemanager and see if it can locate your phone. You can then send an instruction to wipe the phone--the problem is there is no way to confirm that it was done.
