Why did my photos stop backing up to Google, how do I get them to start backing up again?

my photos stopped backing up to google - how do I get them to start backing up again?

My last photo that backed up to google was on September 20th. When I go to the PHOTOS app Auto Backup is ON and all the other settings look correct. It says Backing up.....437 left but it's said that for days and no new pictures are appearing on Google. They have been downloading to Facebook?????? Please HELP!! I am running out of space on my phone & I want to delete pics but only if they're backed up!

Have you by chance set the Photo's app to only sync while connected to WiFi, and then subsequently haven't been around a WiFi hotspot in a while?
