There are apps in the play store which claim to recover deleted photos. I'm not sure how good those work, but it's worth a try considering there's no other way to retrieve the photos after being deleted.

To retrieve deleted files, the phone must be rooted. (It's not an app thing, it's how Android works.) That said, Disk Digger is free for recovering pictures (you need the paid version to recover any other kind of file) and it works. The only problem is that in rooting the phone and installing Disk Digger, you may overwrite some of the pictures you're trying to recover. (BTW, SD cards go bad too - all of them - it's just a question of when, so back up anything important to a cloud account and.or a computer too.)

I'll bet you don't forget to back up any more.
