Galaxy s3 deleted precious texts- can I retrieve?

My samsung galaxy s3 has deleted the first 3 months of texts I exchanged with my girlfriend- so all our romantic 'starting out' messages are now lost. She wiped her phone when she got a new one (it was a lumia 800 so couldn't back up texts) because I assured her they would be on mine. but only the recent ones are. Were both gutted. Is there any way I can retrieve them for free?

Welcome to Android Central! Highly doubtful, unfortunately. Try calling your carrier and seeing if they kept the messages on their servers--maybe they can retrieve some for you.
