How to Root a mediaDROID 150

I'm in need of rooting a mediaDROID 150 for an installation my company is doing. We purchased this from digitalsignage and a mediaSERVER which is basically a dongle that sticks into a Windows 2008 r2 Server. It has 3 IP addresses attached to one NIC which in itself is a little confusing. The mediaDROID has a host file that I need to change, but I cant change it unless I have it rooted. The standard 4.2.2 jellydroid 1.9 apk doesn't root the system. It says "your device is not vulnerable to the exploit"

This has become quite the headache, I am new to Linux and Android OS, Below are details of the device itself.

Model Number: PUBLIC-3188
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: Unknown
Kernel Version: 3.0.36+ steven@ubuntu #149 Tue, NOV 26 20:57:02 CST 2013
Build Number: rk31sdk-eng4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.steven.20131126.210810 test-keys
Vendor Software Version: RK3188_R-BOX_ANDROID4.2.2-SDK_v1.0.0_130514

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
