    It still rings and the back button still lights up but not the screen.

    There's a good chance, if you try to replace the screen yourself, that you'll fail, unless you know what you're doing. Even if successful, the replacement screen may still not work because of possible damage to other components in the phone.

    Can you (is it physically possible)? That depends on your skill level and your ability to work with VERY small parts (the release on the cable is tiny).

    Should you? As belodion said, if you have to ask, you shouldn't. (If you'd replaced half a dozen screens successfully already - which was my criterion for doing it without supervision when I owned my stores - you wouldn't be asking us.)
