How can I root my Galaxy S4?

help on rooting my teenagers galaxy s4!

Please help! There has been alot of suspicious activity with my teenage girl and her phone so I have purchased a tracker and I am needing to root her phone so please help i need step by step instructions because I am clueless!

Try to switch it off.. and then open it by continuously pressing the power button and volume minus(-) key together.. U'll get a rooted device.

It depends on the version of Android running in it.

Settings/General/About device. Look at the Kernel (near the bottom). If the date is earlier than June 2014, you can use Towel Root. If not, you'll have to wait until someone comes out with a root for the patched (later) kernel.
