why is my phone displaying old photos that I deleted over new photos?

I'll take a new photo and a photo that had been deleted reappears over it when I view it in the gallery on my Droid Razr M. It's frustrating as Hell.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying that the photo details are appropriate for the photo you just took, but the image that's displayed is a photo that you deleted before?

Try going to Settings>Apps>All​, select Gallery, and Force Stop, then Clear Cache/Clear Data. When you open Gallery again, the database will repopulate with your photos. See if the problem persists after that.
