How can I speed up the start-up sequence on my Nexus 10?

how can I speed up the start-up sequence on my Nexus 10

iPads start up immediately but the Nexus 10 takes maybe fifteen seconds to get to the start screen. Can this be speeded up or is it intrinsic to the design?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about waking up from sleep, or powering up from a powered off state? Android devices should wake from sleep immediately, just like iPads--all of my Android devices do.

If you're talking about powering up from a powered off state, the iPads certainly don't start up immediately. My wife's iPad Mini probably takes about 20-30 seconds to start up from a powered off state, about the same as my Nexus 7.
