Why is my POP3 email not updating properly?

I have a Yahoo POP3 email account. I have it setup on the stock e-mail app on my Droid Turbo that is running Android 4.4.4. In the past when I checked my email on my PC it would be removed from the phone. After KitKat was installed this is no longer happening. I read an email on my PC and it still shows as unread on my phone. This is very annoying. I have seen several posts about this problem on this website and several others. Is this a known KitKat issue? Is this going to be resolved at some point in time? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you considered changing to the IMAP server? POP3 is a pretty old protocol (and now, POP doesn't stand for that), while IMAP is much more current, with more features.
