Occurred when I tried to get update for Facebook and other Google Play apps

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? Does it occur on both wi-fi and mobile data? If on wi-fi only, have you tried other networks?

Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Google Play Store, and Force Stop, then Clear Cache/Clear Data. Do the same for Download Manager.

If that doesn't work, try going to Settings>Accounts-Google, remove your Google account, then add it back again.

It may also be worth checking your Google Wallet to make sure you have a valid credit card associated with it.
