Why doesn't the sent box work in my Gmail app?

why doesn't the sent box work in Gmail app

When I send an email from either the gmail or email apps there's no way of telling whether I sent it or not! The sent box shows mail inconsistently, like it'll show email I sent this morning but not email I sent another time, and there's no pattern or reason to it.

Please help you have no idea how frustrating it is not knowing if you sent an important email

Welcome to Android Central! In the Gmail app, do you have conversation view turned on? You should easily see any response you sent in a conversation that way.
