How do I stop my phone from syncing apps from my tablet?

I bought a new phone and logged in with my google account. It then downloaded all the same apps that I have on my tablet, which was nice, except I didn't need all the same ones - so I deleted some of them. 5 mins later my phone apparently re-synced with my google account and RE-DOWNLOADED the apps that I had just deleted. How do I prevent my phone from doing this? I have a Sony z3 Compact.

All devices on a given Google account, if set to sync apps, will sync the same apps. Either turn off app syncing on one of them or create a new Google account for the new phone. (You can still have the same email accounts on both - Google and Email are different types of account.)
