I recently began talking with someone via text message and sorta building a relationship. I like to go back and read the older messages, but yesterday I noticed that all of the incoming messages from her older than a few days just disappeared out of nowhere and it appears to be maintaining that pattern and slowly deleting them as time moves on. Any MMS or attached picture texts are still present in the history, but my text history with her looks like I'm just talking to my self with a random selfie coming in from time to time. Is there some way to stop this and maybe recover the missing messages?

In the settings of whatever text app you're using should be an item named something like "delete messages older than ..." and by pressing it you can choose how long to keep messages. Evidently yours is set to 2 days.

About the only way to get the messages back, if you didn't back them up, is to get a job with the NSA. What Abby Sciuto can do is fiction.
