My Galaxy S3's screen is blank sometimes. When you press a button for the lock screen to come up, the screen remains blank while the buttons light up. If there is an incoming phone call, the screen remains blank but the touch responds and the call can be answered. The screen will sometimes start working in the middle of a call. The screen will eventually work (for both lock screen and home screen) after several attempts of pressing the power button. The phone is a little over 1 year old so the warranty has expired. It has never been repaired and is in great physical condition. Both moisture stickers show there is no contamination. The phone software has said it's up to date (last update in june, Verizon wireless), but I don't have the version info with me. What's causing this?

Welcome to Android Central! Difficult to say. Try booting into Recovery and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: [Guide] Rebooting into Recovery Mode for the Galaxy S2, S3, and Tab2.
