Why does mail in trash reappear as unread mail on next log in?

This happens whether I read mail then trash or select mail to trash without reading.

Welcome to Android Central! It kind of sounds like the app isn't syncing properly after you put the mail in the trash. When you exit Email and then open it later, is everything else synced properly, or is everything back to the way it was the last time you used it?

The Email app seems to do that, the Gmail app doesn't. Which is why, even though I like Email better, I'm currently using MyMail.

(It's probably one of the "improvements" they made to the app, and no one noticed the typo that causes you to retrieve the same deleted messages for days.)
