Is it possbile to pull data from a GPS to use in an app?

Build an app for DUAL XGPS150A

I have a DUAL XGPS150A Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver. I plan to build an app that can be link to this external GPS and pull the data for the external GPS.
I will be using MIT App Inventor for the app. How can I pull the data from external GPS in order to be use in my app.

I do appreciate if someone can give a step-by-step guide to accomplish my project.

You mean write the app for you? (That's what step-by-step means here.) Or a general guide, like ask the GPS for its NMEA via Bluetooth, receive it via Bluetooth, parse it and use the data? See https://sites.google.com/site/vmacgpsgsm/understanding-nmea
