I have a notice from T-Mobile telling me my used data and minutes. I can't seem to get rid of it.

Like a widget? Press and hold it and there should be an X labeled 'Remove' icon at the top.

When I press and hold it, I can move it, that's it. You can't delete it.

You can install a different launcher (which is the app that provides the homescreens) or you could move it to another screen - one you don't use.
