I have a Huawei Ascend Y300 and I wanted to format my microSD card. I see 'Erase SD Card' in Settings > Storage. Is this the format option?

Hello. Welcome to Android Central. That just erases the content from your SD Card. If you have an adapter to connect your SD card to a PC, you can format it there. What do you need to format it to? NTFS? FAT32?

I put the microSD card in the adapter and then put the adapter in the sd card slot but nothing happened. I'm not sure.
I am also not sure which one to format to: NTFS or FAT32...

    1) If you restart the phone in recovery mode. Turn the phone off. Press both Volume Up and Power until Recovery mode comes up (about 15 seconds). You should see a menu item to format the SD card (in the phone, not plugged into the computer).

    2) If you're formatting a card that you want to be readable by both the phone and a computer, use FAT32 (or exFAT if it's a large card). NTFS is readable by Windows but not by other operating systems (in most cases).

    3) The phone puts certain folders on the card that Windows doesn't, so it's better to format in the phone.

    4) The only reason to format the card is if the current formatting is messed up. If the card can be used there's no reason to format it. (Formatting an SD card isn't like formatting a hard drive - it doesn't erase data.)

I have a Huawei Ascend Y300 and when I went to recover mode there wasn't an option for formatting sd card. There was 'hard reset/wipe phone' or 'wipe cache partition' but no formatting sd card option.

I couldn't find format option in memory settings. All I found was 'erase sd card' in settings > storage. But what I did was plug the phone into the pc and then I went into my computer on my pc and right clicked the sd card ( G: ) and formatted that way. That doesn't seem to have solved the problem I will get back to you all in a couple days when I plug it into the pc again and then I will check whether the songs disappear or go into scanning sd card mode again. But I am not hopeful it will have solved the problem. But we'll see.
