Verizon upgrade without losing unlimited

have 1 Verizon account with 2 wireless plans on it
Plan 1: Galaxy S3 has Unlimited Data
Plan 2: Galaxy S4 (now eligible for device upgrade) has 6GB Data

What I plan to do:

Get Device Upgrade to the S5 on Plan 2, but don't even turn on the new S5 on Plan 2...instead keep the S4 on Plan 2 up and running just like always.
Move the new unactivated S5 to plan 1 (which has unlimited data)
Or
Do I have to go through the activation process of the S5 on plan 2 and then deactivate and then activate on plan 1? I don't really get the whole sim card thing as far as the swap goes.
Any step by step instructions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
