Why aren't Emojis showing up in my incoming messages?

LG G3 Emojis won't show up in my incoming messages

I have the LG G3 and have noticed since I purchased it about a month ago (thru USCC), that no matter what, incoming emojis will not show up. They show up as a bunch of X's O's and whatnot. However, when I send them, others receive them just fine. Everything is up to date on my phone version 4.4.2, I'm using Handcent and have the emoji plug-in installed. I have uninstalled and re-installed it numerous times, but it's also doing it in the stock ap as well. Any help would be great, thank you!

Try Messaging/Open 3-dot menu/Settings/Text Message/Character Encoding.

I tried that, I don't have the Character Encoding as an option, just delivery option for normal or high priority. Thank you though

I can't remember whether the Character Encoding option has always been there, or whether it was added in a software update, of which I've had four. I have an unlocked D855-EUR, currently on v10l. The option may come your way. It may also be worth posting the question in the G3 forum.
