Why am I receiving texts from the wrong number?

Problem: When Person X texts me I receive a message with the number 219***-****. Her real number is 209***-*****. When I try and reply to the initial text it gives me an error message because that is not a valid number. I can text person X using the correct number but any reply she sends comes in with the incorrect number. So I have to jump between conversations to read and reply to messages.

This is very annoying. Does anyone know how to fix it? I've seen several other posts about this problem online but haven't seen a solution yet.

I have already deleted the contact information, turned the phone on and off, and taken out the battery and sim card.

The phone is a Galaxy S5.

Wouldn't hurt to also clear the cache in your texting app and contacts. But this may not be a problem with your phone - it could be something messed up at the other end. Does person X have this problem with anyone else?
