I have this Verizon Droid Bionic I cannot access other GSM networks on its sim. It's a CDMA phone, but it's listed as a "Global" device. If I root this phone, do I have access to turn on the GSM radio to work with other carriers? Or is it hopeless.

Since it doesn't have a GSM radio in it, it can't access GSM networks. It would be like watching TV pictures on a radio.

There are people that have gotten it to work with GSM carriers like AT&T. Check this out: http://androidforums.com/threads/the...ensive.545743/

However, this contradicts GSMArena, which states that it can't use GSM radios. http://m.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid...xt875-3710.php

I would say your chances are low since that thread was from a long time ago and there were probably updates that contained patches for your phone.
