Help getting lollipop update

I have a 2013 nexus 7. The other day I saw in my notifications area that there was a lollipop upgrade downloaded and ready to install. I didn't want to do it right away so I left it alone. Today I decided I was ready to go ahead but the notification was gone and I have no idea where it went. In settings when I go to updates it shows my kit kat version and no updates available. How do I get that lollipop update back.

Never mind I gave up and tried side loading. I think it's hosed altogether now. Just getting those swirly colored dots. How long do those dots go around before it boots up?

Ahh. Now says android is updating optimizing apps. So looks ok after all.

So far so good. The important apps for me that need to work still do in lollipop, so I think it went well.
