HTC One S bluetooth problem with JBL Flip 2 Portable Speaker

For the JBL Flip 2, I press the power button, then I press the Bluetooth button, which starts blinking (meaning it's searching for a pair ). So I go on my HTC One S Bluetooth settings and click on "Search for devices", but after it searches it says "No nearby Bluetooth devices were found". Is my phone not compatible with the speaker? Not sure if this information is relevant, but I have Android version 4.1.1

Welcome to the forums. Most of my devices the first time I pair them, I have to long press a button. Might that be the case here?
