Galaxy S5 battery drain

For the past 3 days I have experienced some very fast battery drain. I have read some of the posts and decided to uninstall everything I got from the play store this past week. Like right now I place a viber call using my pocket wifi and I lose 1% battery every 4 mins. When I browse stuff using the stock browser or any social app I sort of experience the same thing. There are time I unlock my screen and 70% and after using whatever app for a minute and it goes down by 2% to 3%. Any idea as what can cause this? I am in India for the time being and the temp right now is cold. High would 10°c and low is around 2°c to 3°c, can this be a factor? Thanks!

Re: Galaxy S5 battery drain

The lower the temperature, when it gets that cold, the less charge the battery holds. (It's a chemical reaction, and chemical reactions proceed slower at lower temperatures.) Try to keep the phone near or next to your body when it's not in use (use a headset for anything audio), so the battery stays warm, and takes a while to start cooling off if you have to take the phone out to use the screen.

So, yes it can be a factor. Is it the reason you're getting such poor life? As MaLik said, post both battery screens (press the graph at the top of the first screen to get the second one), and we might see something else causing it.

Also, if about 3-4 days ago you got an update, clear the system cache and leave the phone on the charger as much as possible for another few days. New ROMs and updates to ROMs can cause a lot of "housekeeping", which can eat a lot of battery.

Re: Galaxy S5 battery drain

Aside from the fact that you're letting your battery drain a little too far (you shouldn't let it drop below 40% before charging it - 50% is the sweet spot for longest battery life), Viber uses a lot of battery. It used just over 1/3 of all the power used in almost 19 hours.

Re: Galaxy S5 battery drain

I also read that no signal eats up a lot of my battery and I got like 90%+ no signal at the time. May I know whats the normal screen time should I get for 50% battery? Where can I find a post about battery charging? Thanks!
