Galaxy Tab 4 - Novice Question about the Touch Screen

I must have hit a wrong key the other day...lost touch screen command capability on my Tab 4. The screen still is there, but the log in data reflects a keyboard symbol and the touch screen will no longer respond to any commands. It is not paired with a remote keyboard and the touch screen keeps turning off after just a few seconds, keeping me from doing any serious forensic analysis. I am sure I just need to re-set it to use the touch screen, but can't find any instructions on how to do that (without already having touch screen capability).

Any practical advice?

Re: Galaxy Tab 4 - Novice Question about the Touch Screen

Welcome to the forums.

A reset can be done by pressing and holding the power button (this will force the device to shut off, like a battery pull, since you can't use the touch screen). When it turns off, press volume up home and keep pressing power. That should get you into recovery. If for whatever reason that doesn't work hold all three while trying the force shutdown.

Once in recovery, you can use the volume rockers to scroll down to factory reset.
