I am looking for creative and effective ways of distributing android apps that don't adhere to Google's policies, and thus removing Google Play as an option - e.g. gambling and porn apps.

Have any of you brilliant minds come across a company or site that have solved this in a cool way? Perhaps programmatically or just with a clever and user-friendly process of any kind?

Looking beyond the more obvious ones like using an alternative app store, linking to the apk from your site etc.

Any examples/companies/sites you have encounter would be much appreciated!

Hmmm. I don't pretend to speak for others here but on the whole I'd prefer to work WITH the company that's given us the Android OS rather than AGAINST them.
Also, I doubt that such an app store, if one were created and could be accessed via the Google platform, would inspire potential users that its apps were trustworthy and safe to install.

You could distribute them from a web site, but I wouldn't DL them.
    Talk about untrusted sources.
