can anyone help with this the keyboard is white and I want it dark again I've watched all the videos and when it goes to keyboard options it only gives me an option of language not an option to change the color. There also is not a little keyboard buttons at the bottom of the screen in the soft buttons. How do I get the keyboard dark again?

I don't know about the OP, but I have the exact same question. And this is not about any specific keyboard app, it is the stock keyboard that comes with Android 5.0.2 that was just installed on my Nexus 7. The new keyboard is all white, and far from ergonomic. All that white is just blaring out, to much contrast against the background. Not good at all.

So... any hints on how to change it to something less intrusive?

SwiftKey has a range of colour themes for free. Not sure if it changes themes on Lollipop, the Play Store page doesn't say. Why not give it a try.

I am not looking forward to Lollipop, but I read they are working on a dark theme.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Language & Input, tap Google Keyboard, then Appearance & Layouts. Tap Theme, and pick Material Dark.

Hold in the comma and it will take you too the themes

Uninstall Google keyboard and it will say update next to it just don't updated this time and it will go back to normal

Hold the comma to change the themes or uninstall and reinstall without updating to go back to the original

I changed my HTC m9 by going personalize, keyboard color. If you have a theme your colors will be there. It's either that or default. Just default is only one there if you don't have a theme applied.

Didn't work for me. There wasn't any appearance thing and I don't use Google keyboard. I use Samsung keyboard. But next to the spacebar is a key that if you hold it down it offers you options. I clicked the T and then the keyboard symbol and WALLA my black is back.

Ok. Thissucks. I have lg g5 use lg keyboard. Have used black keyboard with gray letters since I got the phone. Just updated to android 7. Neuget and it went to white keyboard black letters. So bright and annoying. When I go to settings it no longer has appearance or colour options.
    How to fix this?

I'll add that 7 also screwed up the quick options in the pull down menu. And they still haven't fixed the do not disturb/priority option. Android kit Kat You used to be able to select specific contacts or phone numbers to let ring through. Now it is only favorite. So just because I have a favorite list, they must be important enough to ring through during working or sleeping hours?
