Device upgraded last night now it won't accept my password, how can I fix this?

Device upgraded last night now it won't accept my password

Upgraded last night (google nexus 7) to latest update. Now it won't accept my password. There is a checkmark under the number 9 . I am unable to make this checkmark go away. I have turned device on and off several times. What is the solution to this?
