Why are my VPN software programs not working in Lollipop?

I use a Nexus 7 and have Hideninja VPN and Pure VPN. Ever since I upgraded to 5.0 my VPN software has not worked. Is there a fix for this?

I run the stock ROM with root.

Which version of PureVPN are you using ? I am currently using PureVPN ver: 2.3.8 on my android Lollipop and its working flawlessly. Here is the link: goo.gl/DqjR64
Also they are now offering 2 GB of Free bandwidth. Previously I was using 500MB only. But now since its increased I can stream videos directly.
