my android v5 4.2.2 won't read that my sd card is in, phone insert sd card

Just bought a indigo v5 4.2.2 android phone. I put in my 16g SD card that I used on my old phone, I went to storage, down to mount SD card and it says insert SD card to mount. Even though its in there, how do I get my phone to use it?

Welcome to Android Central! Do other SD cards work on the phone? When you put that SD card back into your old phone, does it still read?
